The short version
FamilyCal syncs your family’s calendar through our server — that is the product. Events, list items and meal plans you create are stored on our server so everyone in your space sees them. No account, no email: your space is identified by an anonymous device ID and an invite code.
Across all our apps: no account (no signup, no email, no profile), no ads (no advertising identifiers, no ad SDKs, no data brokers, no cross-app tracking), and no location — none of our apps ever reads your device’s GPS.
What we store
- Shared content. calendar events, list items and meal plans — exactly what you and the people in your space create. Everyone in the space can see this content; that is the point of sharing.
- Space bookkeeping. an anonymous device identifier per member, the space’s invite code, and membership records (who joined, who left, ownership transfers).
- An anonymous device identifier — a random string generated on your device on first launch. It contains no personal information and is not linked to your identity.
We use this data only to make the feature work. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for profiling.
Anonymous usage statistics
We record a few product-usage events — app installed, first time you completed the core action, price page opened, purchase made — tied to a random identifier generated on your device. They tell us whether the app is worth keeping alive. They go only to our own server (api.flotillalabs.com) — never to any third-party analytics service. For each event our server stores the event name, that anonymous identifier and a timestamp; from those it also keeps a per-device tally: when the identifier was first and last seen, how many events it has sent, and which of the steps above it has reached. Nothing you type or create is ever included. If you make a purchase, the event records which tier you bought (the product identifier only — never payment details).
Permissions this app asks for
- Home-screen widget. the widget reads your upcoming events from shared storage on your device. It sends nothing anywhere.
Purchases
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your name, card or payment details. Restore your purchases anytime from inside the app.
Deleting your data
Delete an event, list item or meal and its content is erased from our server immediately — only an empty deletion marker remains so your other devices know to remove it too. Leave a space and your device is detached from it. To erase a whole space or everything tied to your device, email us — we delete on request, no questions asked.
Security & retention
Everything sent to our server travels over TLS (HTTPS) and is stored on access-restricted infrastructure we operate. Feature data is kept only for as long as it is needed to provide the feature — deleting it in the app deletes it on the server, as described above. Anonymous usage events are kept as aggregate statistics. To have everything associated with your device erased, email support@flotillalabs.com — we delete on request, no questions asked, and that is also how you revoke any consent you have given.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children and collect no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. We will never quietly weaken it.
